How to Love Yourself this Valentine’s Day(and everyday!)

“My primary relationship is with myself – all others are mirrors of it. As I learn to love myself, I automatically receive the love and appreciation that I desire from others. If I am committed to myself and to living my truth, I will attract others with equal commitment.”~Shakti Gawain

Self Love is the ONLY force that can make us whole and healed. We all KNOW this fact, yet we still struggle with it.

I hold workshops on Self-love and Positive Life Management all the time in my city. In a recent workshop on Self-love, while discussing the merits of it, a kind gentleman asked, “But I think self-love is just too self-indulgent and narcissistic! How can I think of myself when I have so many responsibilities towards my family and loved ones? Shouldn’t I be thinking of them first before my own needs?”

I smiled at him and said, “How can you fully serve your loved ones and make them happy, when you are not happy yourself? If you are having a bad day, will you go home and be loving to your family or be moody?”

He said, “Of course, I’ll be moody! I have to vent at some point.” I responded, “Is that fair to your family? If you love yourself, you will NOT allow yourself to be sucked into a bad day. You will give yourself the gift of calming down and being happy no matter what kind of day you are having, because you know YOU are worth it. Anger, irritations, shitty days etc won’t trouble your inner happiness. And then when you go home, how will you be with your family?”

We do not learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience.” ~ John Dewey

This is the last month of the year 2024, and for many, it can feel like a dark and quiet time. End of the year energy is usually very deep and that is understandable as we are all in this reflective space.

And that is why it becomes the perfect time for deep healing reflection.

I usually use this month to go deep into a reflective state, almost like a year end ritual that nurtures my heart and soul positively.

Rather than be in a state of angst and panic for the year ending, and the inner critic screaming of all the things I could not accomplish this year, I prefer this calmer way. That’s why I call it a positive reflection on the year gone by. Because honestly, by default we go into a negative state…which ultimately is not healing or productive.

7 Daily Intentions I Set To Bring Clarity To My Day

“When your intention is clear, so is the way.” ~ Alan Cohen

Everyone has busy, stress-filled, hectic lives. Right? Some days I barely have time to grab a cup of coffee in the morning, so I think there’s no way I have time to set a daily intention each morning, and that’s precisely why I know I need to. If I don’t set an intention, I let the day determine my mood, rather than taking control and determining how I want the day to be.

An intention is an aim or purpose, something you plan to do or achieve and setting intentions can do truly incredible things for our life.

For me Intention setting is empowering. Instead of feeling like a victim of circumstance, I become the conscious creator of my days and my life.

The benefits of setting intentions are manifold, but it’s not as simple as wishing on a star or meditating on something you want. Here’s how to set intentions the right way…
