Life can feel daunting at times. Some unforseen situations can make our thinking go from peaceful to overwhelming in no time.

When overwhelm kicks in, the mind automatically goes into overthinking mode. Our mind has a built in fight or flight mechanism to protect us from danger. So some level of thinking, problem solving mentally is a natural response. But when it takes over your life, and all waking moments are full of overwhelm, thats when we need to reevaluate what is normal.

It’s in this overwhelming mode, that very detrimental life decisions are made, because the mind is so tired of overthinking, it often settles on the wrong solution. This is the reason all decisions should be made with a calm mind, not an overthinking one.

Positive Ways to Cope with Grief

Grief is the emotional distress we experience followed by a significant loss. It is all part of the human experience – similar to many other emotions, it exists across beliefs systems, cultures, races, and languages. However, it may differ in how it is expressed, in terms of intensity, duration, your own life experiences, etc.

Most often, grief is associated with the death of a loved one. This type of grief doesn’t only lead to a state of deep mourning for the deceased soul, but also the significant life changes, because of the loss. So in other words its also a loss of a life that was planned.

Although this form of grief is arguably the most painful, individuals experience grief in response to losses that may not be due to death. In this article I wanted to highlight what these losses may look like. And please know that we all, at some point(me included) have faced these levels of grief. Like I said before, all part of the human experience.

Today marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It’s the day a simple man, with a simple mission took physical form in this world. His mission was of Non-violence, of peace, of Unity in diversity. His utter simplicity brought about a revolution of magnanimous proportions. A country was freed, people were heard, caste systems were banished and most of all love and peace prevailed. On this day…and everyday, I applaud this mission. I applaud his spirit, his courage, his unwavering and self-less motives.
