The only constant is change.

As much as we know this to be true, we resist it at every turn.

Our egos cling to the way things are and have been, creating fears around anything different.  This creates the presumption that anything other than what we already know can’t be good.  How absurd!

What do you do when life throws you a zinger?  Do you panic and resist and hope that the change isn’t really happening? How to find the Healing Happiness in Cooking

Cooking heals. Cooking can soothe jangled nerves, heal broken hearts and cure boredom, insomnia and anxiety.

Cooking is therapy and, fattening or not, it’s effective.

It worked for Julie Powell, who set out to whip up every recipe in legendary chef Julia Child’s cookbook when she felt stymied by her own problems. The blog and book that resulted, “Julie & Julia,” are portrayed in a must see film starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. I highly recommend watching it. How to lovingly support someone who is experiencing Hopelessness and Depression

If you have a friend or loved one who is experiencing hopelessness or depression, it can be difficult to know exactly what to say or do. While there isn’t any one magic thing to say that will alleviate their pain, there are many ways to offer support.

‘Never worry about numbers.  Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.’  ~Mother Teresa

The best way to offer help is to listen, validate their experience, and provide acceptance. By offering this type of support, you can help put things into a more balanced perspective. In addition, your offer of companionship lets them know that they are not completely alone. They have someone with them even as they attempt to find their ways through a very difficult and dark period.
