Human beings are sticklers for routine. Whether we accept it or not, we like to know where everything is coming from, what time everything is happening. There is a time for eating, sleeping, schooling, reading….and lately I’ve noticed people even taking out time during the week to ‘just talk’. All in all we love our routine knowing.

How to let the Ego GO and Create Harmonious Relationships

When the ego recedes from our lives, we have space for the other to exist. A way of loosening the grip of the ego is the ability to recognize that others have a right to existence too.

This seems self-evident, but to the ego, only the self matters. For instance, on my recent trip to Mumbai, I traveled by the local train. When you enter a crowded suburban train in Mumbai, and dozens stream in along with you, pushing past with scant ceremony, it is hard to accept that they have as much right to get into the train as you do and that they are justified in disregarding your precious self. Simplicity and Spirituality – Raoka

As I focused on “Simplicity” last month, I couldn’t help but think that the chase after a wealthy life style is a rather complicated affair: the standards keep shifting, and the worries are many. That’s why Spiritual contemplatives and mystics speak so often of ‘detachment’. By taking our focus off of getting stuff, we have more of ourselves available to focus on learning to love rightly, or taking time to be face-to-face with those in need, or learning , or learning how to depend on the Spirit.
