Why ‘JUST THINK POSITIVE’ does not work and what to DO instead

When we are going through a hard time, how often have you heard atleast someone in your life tell you, “Just think positive!”?

Like somehow, when we are in the thick of a stressful situation, when my whole world feels overwhelming, simply “just think positive” is going to magically solve everything! Seriously, who are these people and do they have some magic pill that can make them think positive in an instant?

I am here to put your mind at ease, that although I am a firm believer of the healing power of positive thinking, its impossible to simply be positive in an instant. I have dedicated my life’s work to the study of positive thinking but, I’m not unrealistic about how it is applied to actually work. If simply saying “think positive” worked, we would all be perfectly healed. But, that is NOT the case in the world today, is it!?

2022, the year when the world started getting back to normal after the pandemic. The collective human consciousness was in a state of lets go back to normal mode. Everyone wanted to live like they lived pre-pandemic. This was that year when we all made ourselves believe it was almost back to normal. But really, was it? Or rather, is it back to normal?

Normal, I think is totally overrated. When were we all totally normal anyway? But the human mind likes to feel like it can recreate a familiar space, because it needs to feel safe.

How to Heal with Positive Self-Talk

Positive self-talk at its core is all about speaking to yourself and treating yourself with kindness and compassion, just like you would treat and talk to someone you love.

Do we get overtly critical or angry at our little kids or pets or loved ones when they make a small mistake? Then why do we not show ourselves the same compassion and kindness when we make a small mistake?

The internal conversation that you have with yourself is therefore so so important and that is referred to as self-talk. It even includes talking to yourself aloud. Ideally in life, when you live on autopilot mode you are not even aware of your own self-talk. But, everyone engages in self-talk. This self talk can either be positive or negative.
