There isn’t just one kind of healing.

Over the course of my own healing journey, I have realized that healing isn’t linear, and it’s rarely graceful. It doesn’t always look like doing yoga flows early in the morning or journaling in a cozy corner or meditating to the sound of ocean waves. Sometimes it looks like lying on the floor, staring at the ceiling, and wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again. And believe me, I’ve been there!

Healing is messy. It’s cyclical. It asks for your honesty more than your control. It meets you in the small, ordinary moments and whispers, “Here, too.”

16 Journal Prompts To Find Your Purpose(+Free Printable)

Why do YOU exist on this planet?

For most of us this is a question that keeps coming up as we progress in life. And this question especially haunts us when we feel like we are not living a life of purpose in the first place.

Your purpose is why you exist on this planet, but that purpose is sometimes hard to understand. I have known people who have asked this question to themselves at the age of 45, 55, 65 and even 85! Its not that uncommon to question your existence. Infact, on your healing journey, at some point these things will come up. Its healthy to reassess your life from time to time to clarify if you are on the path of your purpose or not.

The best journal prompt to find your purpose is, “What did you love doing when you were a child?”

I need for you to jog your memory to when you were a kid, say 8-12 years and remember what you were seriously obsessed with. What made you jump out of bed in the mornings? What was your mind busy with?

In the midst of chaos and confusion, answering those questions helped me find my purpose years ago.

As a practice for many years now, I love to end the year by reflecting on the year that has gone by. Its a practice that has helped me deepen my relationship with myself, it helps me learn from the experiences I’ve had this year and in general makes me more appreciative of the year that was.

For me to even begin reflecting on the year that has gone by, I have to sit with my journal. I have to look at all that I added to it in the past year and really notice where it is that I spent my energy.

Its such a great practice honestly. To really reflect on the year, I had to bring to mind everything about the year. Here’s how I did it:
