Healing is Not About Erasing Your Past

Our minds and bodies have an incredible ability to protect us. When we experience trauma or prolonged stress, we develop coping mechanisms to survive. These mechanisms unconsciously become our identity.

In the past, I have used emotional eating as a coping mechanism. I have used immersing myself in work till my bones hurt as a coping mechanism. I have used avoidance and isolation as a coping mechanism. But all because I was too afraid at the time to face the feelings and emotions that were coming up. I did it because I needed to survive through so much trauma without any guidance or knowing how.

I know you know what I am talking about. We all have our very own coping mechanisms.

5 Morning Rituals I Swear By as a Therapist

I’ve always believed that what begins well ends well. In that energy I try to begin my day with positive morning rituals daily. Yes, there are some days when I can’t do them all and thats ok too. The important thing is that I am trying to positive and trying to keep my energy high daily.

The other reason I swear by starting my day off right, is because of the nature of my work. Being a Therapist means I help my clients deal with a lot of their life’s complicated stuff, which can be very heavy energetically at times. If I don’t begin my day on a high note, I feel like I can’t fully help my clients to raise their vibration. So, positive me means positive and happy clients 🙂

5 Positive Questions You Should Always Answer YES to

“If someone offers you an amazing opportunity to do something and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes. Then learn how to do it later.” ~ Richard Branson

There are some questions that never need to hear the answer NO.

Just imagine the possibility of what your life would be like if you always said YES more often. If you accepted every invitation, dared to enjoy every adventure and chose to be friends with strangers. Of course, this could put you in some risky positions but it could also make your life a whole lot more interesting. There are surely questions that should be answered with a resounding NO. When it comes to your emotional boundaries and healing you need to say No a lot more…but then when it comes to making life more interesting many more questions can be answered with a definitive yes.

“Yes” has magic within it. So often we are afraid of life — we fear failure, we anticipate the worst, we don’t know what to expect. So, we say NO. But often by saying “no”, we reject many of life’s brilliant chances.
