8 Positive Life Lessons from Gandhi ~ A Tribute to His indomitable spirit

“You must be the Change you want to see in the world.” ~ Gandhi

Today marks the 70th Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It’s the day a simple man, with a simple mission passed into the spirit world. His mission was of Non-violence, of peace, of Unity in diversity. His utter simplicity brought about a revolution of magnanimous proportions. A country was freed, people were heard, caste systems were banished and most of all love and peace prevailed. On this day…and everyday, I applaud this mission. I applaud his spirit, his courage, his unwavering and self-less motives.

I believe, rather firmly believe in Non-violence in thoughts and actions. In no circumstance or situation or state is violence physical or mental acceptable. I condemn war and fighting. There is so much of it going on around us already, that we are just adding to the Universe’s Mental Pollution, by thinking violently too. Be it just muttering harsh words under our breath or holding grudges or holding hate in our hearts. We are sending out the wrong energy into this Universe. 5 Positive Attributes to Beautify Your Soul (while there is still time!)

5 Positive Attributes to Beautify Your Soul “Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”  ~ Veronica Shoffstall

What makes a beautiful soul? Why do we *need* to make efforts to beautify this soul?

As you begin your day whats the first thing you do? I personally get up to brush my pearly whites, pray, do yoga and make coffee. After which there is a regular routine in place till I get ready for the day. There is so much we all do to beautify our physical selves from the start of our day till our day comes to an end. We use the best cosmetics, we wear the most comfortable clothes, we eat the tastiest food, we stay in cozy homes….the list of our physical wants that beautify our physical lives is endless. The Challenge to Live a Phenomenally Miraculous Life

One of my all time favorite quote by Albert Einstein is, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is.”

At first I thought, wow, pretty black and white, Mr. Einstein… What’s wrong with somewhere in the middle? Certainly everything is not a miracle. But over time as I have continued to ponder over the words of this quote, I have been pleasantly surprised at how miraculous our life really is! I then eventually asked myself, what is a miracle anyway? And what, I wondered, was Albert Einstein’s definition of a miracle? Continue reading “The Challenge to Live a Phenomenally Miraculous Life”

How to Starve the Ego and Feed Your Soul

“I fed my ego, but not my soul.” ~Yakov Smirnoff

When the ego recedes from our lives, we have space for the other to exist. A way of loosening the grip of the ego is the ability to recognize that others have a right to existence too.

This seems self-evident, but to the ego, only the self matters. For instance, recently in Mumbai, I traveled by the local train, which I usually avoid due to how over crowded it always is. When you enter a crowded suburban train in Mumbai, and dozens stream in along with you, pushing past with scant ceremony, it is hard to accept that they have as much right to get into the train as you do and that they are justified in disregarding your precious self. 5 Positive Ways You NEED to Be Humble for more Happiness

“We must not be wise and prudent according to the flesh. Rather, we must be simple, humble and pure.” ~ Francis of Assisi

In our modern society, full of corporate power and stardom, being humble, being modest is often viewed as a weakness.  And the funny part is, we celebrate entitlement and elitist behavior in the name of social norm.

What hope do we have as a society if we celebrate over confidence and elitist attitudes? Where is the spiritual growth in that? Aren’t we all getting rather materialistic?

This is the reason being humble is such a deep necessity for our society at large. But can we go change every person on this planet? NO! That’s literally impossible…so then what? Do we go on living the same way? Can we really find happiness in this cesspool of over indulgence? Continue reading “5 Positive Ways You NEED to Be Humble for more Happiness”
