“Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.” ~ Ryunosuke Satoro

Many years ago, one of my spiritual teachers shared this story with me. I would like to share it with you all today.

The story is about a village where all the women washed clothes together down by the river. When they all got washing machines, there was a sudden outbreak of depression and no one could figure out why. It wasn’t the washing machines that could do such a thing. It was actually the absence of time spent doing things together. It was the absence of community.

We’ve all gotten so independent these days… Our birthday wishes have also becomes so impersonal over texts, whatsapp or facebook. We rarely pick up the phone to talk, everything is done over texts. 23 Empowering Quotes to Boost Body Positivity and Self-Love

This week I feel like sharing some of my new favorite self-love quotes that will make you think, help you remember and inspire you towards a deeper, a gentler and a more loving connection with yourself and your body.

I have since done a lot of work to heal from it. Its a hard inner battle. One of the ways(among many others) that helped me heal was reading empowering words like the ones I am going to share with you.

Today, is world mental health day, 10th October. The theme for this year is “Mental health is a universal human right“. The premise behind this theme is to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal and basic human right.

Keeping that in mind, today’s article is about how you can understand and heal from stress.

More than two-thirds of visits to the doctors or surgeries are for stress-related illnesses.

Stress has been linked to headaches, backaches, insomnia, anger, cramps, elevated blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and lowered resistance to infection.

For women, stress is a key factor in hormonal imbalances resulting in menstrual irregularities, PMS, fibroids, endometriosis and fertility problems.

Stress can also be a factor in the development of almost all disease states, including cancer and heart disease; the leading cause of death in men & women.

This happens when we put all our energy into only one or two areas of our life (usually work) and ignore the rest.
