Your body doesn’t heal in one dramatic moment of clarity. Healing doesn’t arrive like a thunderclap or a single breakthrough or happen overnight. It unfolds gently, often invisibly through small, surprising shifts.

My own healing journey has been in progress daily since 1999 in the most surprising ways.

It shows up in the quiet, fragmented moments. It’s in those moments that my nervous system finally started to feel safe… safe enough to let go.

Healing is Not About Erasing Your Past

Our minds and bodies have an incredible ability to protect us. When we experience trauma or prolonged stress, we develop coping mechanisms to survive. These mechanisms unconsciously become our identity.

In the past, I have used emotional eating as a coping mechanism. I have used immersing myself in work till my bones hurt as a coping mechanism. I have used avoidance and isolation as a coping mechanism. But all because I was too afraid at the time to face the feelings and emotions that were coming up. I did it because I needed to survive through so much trauma without any guidance or knowing how.

I know you know what I am talking about. We all have our very own coping mechanisms.

When you start Healing from Past Traumas…

Nobody really talks about this but When you start healing past traumas and your body comes out of the “fight or flight” mode you will crave rest and silence.

Because your body finally starts to feel safe in the peace and calm.

You aren’t lazy, You are just catching up on all the years you didn’t have calm.

Healing and rest go hand in hand. Mental rest, emotional rest, physical rest… Is all needed to truly heal from past traumas.
