I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive,
so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.

The words below, have been my “pick me up” for a very long time. Not only do they lift up my mood but also my spirit. I am instantly in another parallel world where all is just simply beautiful. When you read or hear them you will know too. These words describe what  I exactly feel is the RAPTURE of BEING ALIVE as Campbell above states it so beautifully 🙂

  4. Awesome lyrics Zeenat! They do seem extremely uplifting and energizing.

    And that quote you put on contains so much truth. People usually live a mislead life simply because they try to find meaning. But the truth is that we live to create meaning instead of finding it. Finding meaning would be…meaningless, as looking for something only implies it isn’t here.

    Meanings are everywhere and everything, all we have to do is to accept and appreciate what we have and what we can do with our lives.

    I love this quote by Joseph Campbell, and the song/video/lyrics you have along with it just really do help to bring that quote to life! This is so great!!

    To me, being alive means feeling like I am flying…or like I am connecting with my bliss. That’s a word I really am feeling right now – “bliss”. When I am at that spot, or really maybe going down that path of bliss – life just feels right and good – and alive!

    I so much love Joseph Campbell. He was such an amazing man who truly loved life and his work. This quote was totally awesome as were the lyrics that you shared.

    As for what being alive means to me…the best way for me to describe it is when I feel so full of love that I am aware of how everything around me is a part of me. The intensity of the love is so immense, I could explode from the joy of it. To me, that is being alive. It is the best feeling in the world.

    I love this quote and couldn’t agree more. In fact I think we get waylaid and can actually miss Life or waste Life when we put all our focus on “What is the meaning of Life?” As opposed to getting in and simply LIVING Life as fully and abundantly as we can. Not that we can’t explore but we need to make sure we don’t lose sight of the experience of Life.

    I also think it is not Death that we fear, but rather we fear not living. So yes, live as much as we possibly can, every moment.

  12. When I read the Joseph Campbell quote, it reminded me of the big difference between thinking about life versus living life. The simple act of “being,” which offers us all we’ll ever need and so much more. By simply taking a breath, and using our senses, which God gifted us at birth, we can know the rapture of being alive. In this moment… Right now… Nothing else needed. Heart beating, senses sensing, life happening…
    Brilliant!

    Wanted to share this with you… sorry if it’s long…

    Last Tue. is a perfect example of being alive to me. I hope you don’t mind the share…

    Tue.. I went to the hospital and held a tiny little baby just born that day. Named Autumn Marie. Her mom was the friend of my oldest daughter’s at one time. I recently found out she just lost her mom. As every women knows you need a mom when you have your first baby. Being ill myself.. all I could think is … I would want someone there for my daughter if I could not be there.

    So.. standing there .. holding little Autumn my mind wandered to my youngest Emily. It seems like just yesterday I was the one in hospital bed, cuddling her close. But… as soon as I left the hospital I was to leave and say goodbye. You see my youngest had just gotten married, and was leaving for Ft Drum in Ny. More then 2000 miles away, for 15 months. It will be the first time we have ever been apart.

    Standing there holding Autumn, I was stuck with the cycle of life. How things really do come full turn. My daughter’s childhood was over… but this little life was just beginning. As my daughter’s new life was also beginning.

    Sad that Autumn’s grandmother could not be there for her… also made me realize what a wonderful gift life is. That no matter what struggles, changes or difficulties you face. There will be another day, another wonder, and another smile… as long as you open yourself up to happiness instead of getting bogged down in the sad and negative.

    The important things in life to me.. are the feelings and memories that you share with those you love. For those are things that can truly never be taken away from you.

    1. oh moon, you made my heart melt with that story. Its so lovely that you share such a loving and deep bond with your daughter. Going apart after so long is hard…but whats important..is that you wil be together in spirit..thinking about each other and praying for each other.
      And the best part about life nd living…memories are always ALIVE and with you.

    Wonderful quote…for me being alive is so many things…right now, if I close my eyes…it is feeling the rising and falling of my chest and belly as i breathe….the warmth of the air from our lovely pellet stove…the angelic faces of my daughters staring at me from an old photo from when they were very young right in my view (my eyes are open now) My cat at my feet and my dog on the floor next to me. Being Aiive is this feeling of comfort and safety and certainty that my live is filled with loving family and friends and God’s Presence always. I don’t know that this is a description of rapture, but it is what it feels like to be alive in this moment…and that’s plenty for me.
