      I loved that line too….but somehow being true to the highest within your soul..is sometimes hard to do. But try try…one day we shall all be only our true self. 🙂

    Imitating others can only take us so far because they have unique strengths and abilities that we will never master exactly as they can. But if we focus instead on our unique strengths and abilities and expand on them, we’ll be able to reach farther toward our highest potential.

      Our soul and that voice inside should be our only driving force. By being true to ourself..we are not only unique but special…special enough to offer to the world our own special brand of personality and input.

    Isn’t Lisis doing just that with her home schooling and the way she lives and are we not all finding our way out of that web of those arbitrary rules.

      Youre so right! Lisis is so following her heart..and living her life on her terms. we all could learn from that and embrace our own individuality and …most of all flaunt it enough so that our uniqueness flows out and helps the world.

    Hey Zeenat, great poem that you’ve shared with us.

    Just like you and the poem, I believe in being the unique individuals that we are.

    But sometimes, things can get a little more complicated than that. Because then the question arises : “who am I anyways?”

    Are our personalities simply morphed by the people who are around us? By the world that we live under? Our beliefs, our habits, our likes/dislikes, are those really part of who we are? Or are those part of the subconscious education that has been bestowed upon us by our culture and our societies?

    Is the phrase “just be yourself” mean to get past the conditioned thought processes and habits from our culture? If we get past that, then what is left?

    What is under our thoughts and personalities? Nothing? or everything that we’ve ever wanted?

    Be yourself, so simple, yet such a fascinating philosophical statement that still to this day is ever so difficult to unleash.

    Pardon me for my comment Zeenat, I didn’t mean to get all super serious lol.

    Beautiful poem with simple content yet complex significance.

      I agree with you..that if we take away whats dominated by the outside world or outside influences..what is left…..
      That what is left..the pure,untouched, unbiased soul….is our “true self”. And that true self needs to come out. It needs to be the dominant one rather than this influenced , biased and jundgmental self…

  12. Dearest Zeenat, this is lovely and wonderfully empowering. I especially LOVE the part about being yourself. That is something for us all to remember over and over again, especially in a world that can often discourage people from being who they truly are. I don’t know how it is for other people but I have a very strong sense of who I am so it’s just a matter of remembering to really be who I am. So thanks for the reminder.       If we arent pushing and striving to be ourselves..and then what is all the rush for..?? Our lives are based and should be based on finding our true self..and then just BEING True to our-self. If we are true to our-self…automatically we are being noone else!!

    Sometimes it can be a bit daunting to stay out of the mold some people think you should be in but you just have to keep believing in what is right for yourself and keep on keeping on, as long as you are hurting no one else.
