Nature made us individuals, as she did the flowers and the pebbles;
but we are afraid to be peculiar, and so our society resembles a bag of marbles, or a string of mold candles.
Why should we all dress after the same fashion?
The frost never paints my windows twice alike.

I love this. I was just talking to one of the Littles today about not needing to be like everyone else. I love the idea of being a petal on a flower. Perfect.
Oh Jill, Petal on the flower is such a gorgeous example. Your littles are lucky to have a mummy like you 🙂
This is wonderful, Zeenat! So, so important that we let that voice within our heart out. We are all unique, and letting that shine is also freeing for others…
Hi Lance,
Freedom is something that comes from within….we go around looking for it outside…when all we need to do is let our uniqueness shine 🙂
Thank you fro your wonderful thoughts on this 🙂
Lovely, lovely thought, Z. Thank you for sharing. Been a while since we connected but I think of you often with love and gratitude.
Hugs

Another beautiful post Zeenat, it said so much without saying a lot.
Hi Steven,
Weekends are my say little time 😉
Glad you liked this…:)
I love the last line Zeenat…”the frost never paints my windows twice alike”…so too with us…whether we recognize it or not…we might try at times to fit in, to be like others, but ultimately, we each paint the world/write our lives in a unique and precious way. There is no way around it really. We are who we are.
gentle steps,
Laura

I absolutely love this. It fits into my life right now. You have an uncanny way of doing that for people…thank you.
I’m reading “A Wrinkle in Time” to the kids, and the richness of this quote compliments the messages in the book.
Dare to be different.
Hi Julie,
Glad you liked this..and am so glad you made it to the blog 🙂
I havent read that book….but am glad this quote will help.
You and your blog are UNIQUE!
Hi Zeenat,
Amen for being unique! I never understood the sheep mentality…meaning doing something because everyone else is doing it.
I so love this quote and picture.
Hope all is well with you, my friend! 🙂
Hi Z
So true, nature is such a treasure and such a great teacher.
Hi Z! Oh yes, let’s celebrate uniqueness! I’m all for it! 🙂 The only thing I want homogenized is my milk, thank you!
For me, individuality means I am in a great position to fully appreciate the fine qualities of other wonderful individuals like you Z. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a very meaningful poem with a great ending. I read it a few times. I did my thesis on Zen poet Gary Snyder and this poem has a great haiku feeling to it.
It also made me look at a plaque on my wall and smile. It says, “Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.”
Oh David I love that Plaque saying! Little people to be unfolded….this is especially good for me to read cause i have a little 3 year old unfolding in front of me everyday 🙂
And you thesis wow! Youre one smart cookie 😉
Beautiful poem…
A few lines, yet an abundance of truth.

I am unique, just like everyone else! 😀
Love this, reminds me of the amazing quote, ‘you were born an original, don’t die a copy.’
