7 Life Lessons 2023 taught me (+7 Positive Affirmations to close the year)

There are less than a handful of days left of 2023. A year that for me, was quite testing, but also life affirming. I like to think that everything I learned and experienced this year will make next year so much more special. These are some of the life lessons I have come to realize over these last 12 months.

Affirmations to Carry You Through Difficult Times

“I want to do more than just survive, I want to thrive.”

That is THE affirmation that’s helped me make sense of my grief and my life. It’s how I choose to show up day after day in life, even after all that I have been through.

Some days I am strong and resilient. I feel like I can conquer the world. But then, there are those days, though, when it takes all my strength just to get out of bed in the morning. I’ve known many of those days, as I am sure you have too.

How to Heal with Positive Self-Talk

Positive self-talk at its core is all about speaking to yourself and treating yourself with kindness and compassion, just like you would treat and talk to someone you love.

Do we get overtly critical or angry at our little kids or pets or loved ones when they make a small mistake? Then why do we not show ourselves the same compassion and kindness when we make a small mistake?

The internal conversation that you have with yourself is therefore so so important and that is referred to as self-talk. It even includes talking to yourself aloud. Ideally in life, when you live on autopilot mode you are not even aware of your own self-talk. But, everyone engages in self-talk. This self talk can either be positive or negative.
