A Transformative Birthday ~ On Being True to Myself

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

An honest confession: Last year at this time, I was NOT living by the light inside. I was not being true to myself. I was in immense pain physically and emotionally. There was so much that was not going right in my life, that I had just gone on living on autopilot. I realized all this when I saw my birthday pictures the next day i.e. on the 30th of September 2014. I was shocked to see myself. I couldn’t recognize myself with all those layers. I felt like crap literally! I cried for a few nights and prayed and prayed for guidance. I needed to feel like myself again. I craved to FEEL alive again. I was helping all these people heal through counseling and healing work, while I wasn’t feeling very good myself. It didn’t feel right. BE Yourself ~ Transforming into the REAL ME!

BE Yourself ~ Transforming into the REAL ME!“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly.”~ St. Francis De Sales

Some time back on a trip to my cousin’s place, who I met after many years, we talked and giggled like we were kids again. Neither of us felt any older than those days we used to play in the rain and create havoc during summer break. All of us lived in different states/countries but would come together to Mumbai, India for the summer. Its still essentially the same situation, except now we have our own little ones roaming the rooms….and now I am settled in Mumbai with my family. Meditating literally changed my life.

Pretty bold statement to make you might say? You would be right. However, it’s true and I’ll explain how it can help you too.

How I got into meditation

I had my first taste of meditation in 2008. I mentioned to a friend that I loved yoga, but the classes I attended placed too much emphasis on the postures (or Asanas) rather than the meditative aspects such as Pranayama, from which I experienced real peace and calmness.

My friend told me about a Buddhist temple he went to, to practice ‘mindfulness’ meditation once a week, and how I might like to give it go. I was well up for it! Continue reading “Meditating yourself to transformation”

Transparency: The Key to Spiritual Growth

By Janice Lynn Lundy

Like many others, my spiritual journey began when my life wasn’t going as planned. I was stressed and overwhelmed, trying to be the perfect wife, mother, friend, and co-worker. I was sick and tired—literally—of working to make everyone around me happy, and I had the poor health to prove it.

In 1994, I dove headlong into a journey to reclaim my “Buddha Chick self,” as I have come to call her. A woman who is innately calm, clear, and wise; one with that peaceful Buddha-like smile on her face and one in her heart too! I was willing to do the inner work required to uncover her because I really wanted my life to change. I wanted to feel less strained and more Chickful of peace and joy.
