I remember my first encounter with the so called stars signs was when I really intently started reading the newspaper. I was about 11 years old, and the sole reason I started reading the newspaper was cause my school principal wanted each of us to have an interesting article to share every morning at the assembly. I always ended up being chosen to read out my finds. In one of those so called finds one day i read about the Star Libra. Suddenly it was the talk of the school and It was the most happening thing to talk about. Everybody started talking about the attributes each of us had and kept teasing one another with the negative traits of each of these Star Signs.
As I have grown up, the hold of these star signs on our psyche has grown too. An example- when my little angel was born, the first thing i heard from someone who visited me in the hospital was “oh, she is so cute, but she will be very hot tempered, she’s Pisces na.”
Even while dating or meeting new people, somehow one of the first things we end up asking is “Whats Your Star Sign?”. And if its our very own Star sign..then we get so ecstatic and say “Yeah we will get along well..blah blah.” Romantic or marital compatibility also ends up being the stars specialty not the two people who actually want to get married.
What confuses me is that if all the people in the world can be classified in these 12 star signs!! Where is the uniqueness in that? As you meet all the different people in your life, and really notice them, you will see that each of them is unique in their own special way. No two people have the same DNA or thumb print either. Each and every individual has a unique life which is a beautiful story full of ups and downs.
I am sure star signs have a higher purpose and do really probably help. But for me, nothing is more important than what i feel in my heart. My sixth sense might not be very developed or strong, but i can sense with my heart, a good person and a big heart of love from across the internet too.
When you are on the road to personal development, slowly but steadily you become more and more aware of the smallest things going on around you. You can instantly feel the good or bad projected towards you. Your heart and mind are open to new experiences. You are always willing to learn and want to be more and more helpful giving to everyone around. In doing all these beautiful acts of love to enhance ourselves, our lives and those of others, dont you think its a kind of compartmentalization to put all the beautiful and loving people in the world in to 12 groups??
I personally prefer one group only and thats the group of Love. Love is something each and every one of us has and areLove is the glue that binds us all together and is the only emotion that i think is truly divine. God created us out of love. Love is not only human ‘romantic’ love. It is of a spiritual nature, it is all-encompassing and unconditional. As we are all sparks of the Creator (the Divine), and as the Creator IS LOVE, we are therefore also “Beings of Love”. Love is who we really are, yet in our human state and using mostly only our five senses, we have forgotten this and we perceive other people and animals and nature as ‘separate’ from ourselves. But we are all made of the same ‘Love’ and are all therefore ONE and all connected. full of. Our hearts swell up when we see the birth of a new baby or the blooming of a flower or the many beauties of nature, simply because we are all “beings of love” inside out. We all have so much love inside of us to give and surprisingly love never reduces, infact the more you give the bigger your heart becomes.
Star signs limit our thinking and approach towards one another, whereas Love is limitless and unconditional.
Now ask your self this simple question: “Which group do I want to be in? Star Signs or Beings Of Love?”
Only one of these groups has no disadvantages or limits!!!
“Eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is.”

Well said, Zeenat! Too many people put too much stock in star signs, and neglect the fact that Love is the same within all of us, and binds us all together. Personally, I think that star signs and other such things can be fun to play with, and sometimes they can offer us some little insight, but it’s much more important for us to know each other on a personal level, without attaching such labels.
HI Jay,
You say it perfectly-Labels. We tend to put people in a little box and automatically presume a certain trait when we come to know of their star signs. KNowing each other and loving each other is more important that any automatic Label. Opening our mind and heart is what can get us there 🙂
Thank you for your lovely comment!!
Having studied astrology, may I assure you that individual Birth Charts tell us a GREAT deal, not simply a little, about ourselves, our potential, and the choices we have to make in our lives. Charts are the best of road maps for our journeys.
Hi Jinsky,
So nice to see you here after so long 🙂
I have an idea about individual birthcharts being acurate. They really can be great guides in our lives. But, Jinsky here i talk about the mundane habit of ruling your day by the 3 liners that come in the newspapers….and the commercialization of the so called stars signs, which makes people so dependant on them. I personally do prefer LOVE. Atleast i know its limitless and always going to be there 😉
Thank you for your lovely comment. Always Appreciate it.
Love is in every heart and we all need to feel the love within us. If one is depleted from love it turns into bitterness. I believe that we shall show love in our deeds and attitude toward others. Not just empty words of LOVE.
Very good article, Zeenat!
Thank you,
Zuzanna
Hi Zuzanna,
Love is indeed everything and all we need.
Am so glad you liked this article and very happy to see you here again. Your support is priceless. Thank You!
Hi Zeenat.
You are spot on, you will love the book ‘love without end’ by Glenda Green.
It explains that we are indeed love, and life is love in action.
As God is love, everything responds to love, how could it be any other way.
We are made by love and are love and respond to love.
That is in the end the law of the universe, when you are love, you command life.
And star signs, well I rather see the real things in the night sky.
Hugs to you, Wilma
Hi Wilma,
Thank you for suggesting Glenda Greens book. I will check it out soon. I am sure it will be just as awesome as you are 🙂
“When youre love, you command life.” Wow!! So beautifully said.
Stars are pretty though 😉
Hugs to you too.
Hi Zeenat ,
Brilliant ! I have seen many people for whom first thing in the morning is check their star sign predictions..
People check for signs in stars but fail to see the signs in hearts …
Hi Lakshmi,
Nice to see you here 🙂
I have seen that too….there are some who cant seem to do anything without consulting their start forecast. I often want to tell these people, “hasnt god given you a brain to think and analyze?” I agree that maybe for huge decisions you might need help, but I have seen people not going out of the house, cause their forecast said they will have a bad day today.
You said it perfectly “People do fail to see the signs in their hearts”…the signs of Love.
Thank you for your lovely comment.
What an interesting article. Yes, I do believe we are each too unique, and too many, to be put into any compartments, let alone only twelve.
I love the stars, but reading what they hold for us is more of something that is “fun” to do sometimes than a thing by which to set much faith or live one’s life.
Hi Karen,
I agree completely…its ok for fun to read about the stars on normal basis, but making your life depend on it is like losing your own mind and your own individuality.
Glad you liked this article. 🙂
Hello Zeenat,
This article is amazing since I have been thinking about astrology and I believe we each have a choice rather to believe what we read since we all tend to translate things to our own ways of thinking – we only see what we want to.
My mother in- law is more into the cosmos and I find her interest and belief of it to give her more understanding of her life and experiences. She has told me several times LOVE is all that really matters and I agree with her completely on that.
I keep an open mind to the unknown.
xox
Hi Dearest Bunny,
Its so nice to know your mother in law is such an intuitive and cosmically inclined person. Must be such fun and wise company to learn from.
Its not that i dont believe in the stars and the cosmic effects on our personalities…but when these things are abused by lack of knowledge..like in the newspapers..and then when people do or do no do things cause their so called horoscope (actually morning newspaper) tod them so..thats where i draw the line. I mean what happened to your own thinking and brain? Can 3 lines in the newspaper really determine the fate of all the millions of people who happen to be the same star sign?
But yes Love is everything and its really all that matter.
We all should have an open mind so that we can learn new things….and not a closed mind otherwise we will be putting ourself and others into compartments.
xoxox
Hi Zeenat! Love is everything – you certainly write about that with so much love in your heart that we all can FEEL it from you, even on a screen, Zeenat. Can you feel me hugging you?
As for the astrology part – there is a huge, generalized misconception about it. Yes, there are 12 signs – the Sun Signs – but there is so much more to it. The Sun Sign you have is only a small part really. Chart-reading astrologers absolutely hate the newspaper – 12 only – readings. You are not “just” your Sun Sign. It’s an amusing tidbit of useless information. I agree with you totally. I would equate it to this: knowing how to turn on your computer. Reading a birth chart is as in depth as knowing html and creating websites.
Have you ever seen a birth chart? It’s a confusing-looking thing if you aren’t trained in reading it. There are 12 houses, each representing a part of you, and the moment you are born, and the location of your birth, places the 12 signs in a different house. Then in reading THAT, there are the trines, oppositions, and aspects and the degrees of each are also important. My aunt has been reading charts for forty years and has never seen any two charts that are exactly alike, just like she has never met two people exactly alike – it’s impossible. There is so very much more to astrology and if you are lucky enough to find a trained chart reader, what you could learn would blow your socks off. My aunt does not do “predictive” readings, since we are beings of free-will, but works to show you your gifts, obstacles and what you came here to learn. It is amazing – and a far cry from the 12 thing!
She did charts for my family years ago when the kids were just entering teen-land. In truth, it really helped us navigate through a lot and was spot-on in describing the personalities at work. In the proper hands, a good birth chart reading is a tool that can potentially give you a better understanding of yourself on many levels.
I so agree on a 12-only level, astrology is a joke, you’re absolutely right. There is just so much more to astrology I felt compelled to say it. Hopefully I have not offended – that is the LAST thing I would ever want to do! I think we have been given many tools – this is just one of them and I am open to giving tools a shot.
Hugs always,
suZen
Dearest Suzen.
Youre such a sweetheart for taking the time to write this and explain to me all about the stars. I feel lucky that a person of your experience and intellect would take out the time to read my humble words and explain to me with such love. And yes i do feel your hug 🙂 And I am not at all offended…actually i feel honored to read your beautiful thoughts.
I personally have always been curious about all things cosmic and mystical which has led me to learn Tarot reading and psychic & prayer healing among all the others holistic healing methods…. and i have always been a fan of Linda Goodmans Sun Signs and love signs books. Almost all religions and faiths have some way of reading the cosmos and making it apply to our past present and future. Then ofcourse there is the science of numbers as to what time and date you were born..and the addition of the numbers your name comes up to. I do have an idea about all this..and i do agree with you..that these sciences or tools are a great guide for us And can be very very accurate and helpful.
But, as i mentioned in the post, I dont have anything against the star signs per say…but the practice of picking up the newspaper every morning and beating your self about the fact that you’re going to have a crappy day cause some 3 liner horoscope generalises and says so…now that bugs me. Its the trending of these star signs as fashion accessories….
I feel like its an abuse to God and all the gifts he has bestowed on us-thinking, analyzing, deciding, observing, and most of Loving. We are beings of love and should understand the true nature of ourself in order to understand why we are here on this glorious Journey.
I am tempted to ask you if your aunt still makes charts and would do one for me?? Do let me know.
And again…i am not offended 🙂
A big big hug to you for being You 🙂
Hi Zeenat! We live in a magnificent world where everyone we meet comes to us as a teacher! You write of love like no other I know! I am blessed to have met you.
I believe we are on a level playing field, all coming together with our diverse backgrounds and experiences to share. Although my chronological age says one thing, I am so just a beginner, always and forever learning and growing. Wow, there is sure no need of you being humbled! We’re both students!
My aunt would love you, as I do! She is not taking new clients (she’s 84) but I have a dear friend who is excellent – http://www.cosmicclockastrology.com – SandyRodeck.com – who I am sure would be happy to do your chart. It gives me great joy to recommend her. Having her read my chart last year was a complete confirmation to me about birth charts. Her reading and my aunts were totally in sync – it was awesome indeed.
I couldn’t agree with you more – nobody needs to read some silly horoscope in the paper that says you are going to have a crappy day! That really IS nonsense.
Hugs and MUCH love,
suZen
All we need I love! Love is all we need! Great post!
Hey Jonathan,
Yes, Love is indeed all we need and will ever need!!
Glad you liked the post.
Thank you for you lovely and happy comment 🙂
Hi Zeenat,
Before I began my spirtual quest, I used to love reading my horoscope. I read up on my sign and never thought it really represented who I was.
Through a series of events, I had my chart read by someone who was really good. Like Suzen said, when you get your chart done, that really tends to be more interesting and informative. It was an eye opener for me for it really described my personality really well.
That said, there is destiny but there is free will and no horoscope can predict life. People have to be responsible for how they choose to be in the world. So I am with you on being a being of love. 🙂
Hi Nadia,
I too have been the curious kind about the stars…have read and probed. But ultimately we make our destiny with a huge heart full of love and compassion as was bestowed on us by the almighty. We all have to as you said take responsibility and make our own decisions and learn from them….rather than be dependents on horoscopes to make our decisions for us.
And yay to you for joining the Beings of Love Club 🙂 The more the love in the world..the faster it will heal. Amen.
This is SO beautiful!!! I absolutely agree and was going to say what Jay Schryer said but he said it so beautifully that there is no point in me repeating it. I never take these things to heart. I do however take each individual in their own right and get to know them as they are and that is all that matters to me, other than LOVE. I detest going in with a preconceived notion that is someone is because a certain divination says so, a divination that may have nothing to do with me, with other or the moment. Also I LOVE to go into Life with a sense of discovery. Someone can tell me who I am or what will happen or what the stars say, but what I REALLY REALLY need is to experience life, mistakes and all, for myself. Then I will KNOW who I am and what being alive means to me. I really LOVE the groundedness of this. So refreshing to see it laid bare. Solid and real and room for each of us to be unique. Bless you dear Zeenat. You are strong and true. Love you dear one, Robin
Hi Robin,
Experience is truly truly what we need to learn to grow and to understand our true potential. Preconceived notions are limiting and cant replace divinity in anyway.
Thank you Robin for this heartwarming comment. You are such an inspiration to me….so full of love and adventure. I wonder if i will ever be able to get that way 🙂
Lots of love.
Hi Zeenat,
You know, star signs are something I’ve never really ever gotten into. Nor really understood.
So, I’m completely with you, my friend…love is where it’s at. Love is what is meaningful and real. Love is what’s in our soul…
Yay Lance….Our club ‘Beings Of Love’ is growing. Heres hoping one day each and every souls can join the club.
🙂
Indeed, we are beings of love, and though there can be similarities with Star signs, each person is unique and special, the Universe will explode without the uniqueness and substance of one person! 😉
HI Jocelyn,
Very rightly said, our universe will certainly explode without uniqueness.
Thank you so much for your awesome comment. Appreciate it.
That’s very interesting, since I’ve had a fascination with astrological signs since I was a teenager, too. I do think they provide some loose guidelines for what to expect in a person, but like everything in life, it’s a spectrum. A person may be more or less like the strongest or so-called weakest traits of their sign. I’ve read that the more enlightened we become, the more we gravitate toward the loftiest parts of our star signs… And yet as you said, there’s a lot of gray area in there.
Love, on the other hand, of which we’re all made and to which we’ll all return, is so expansive and all-inclusive. Isn’t it marvelous how it’s the universal currency we can all relate to and work from? What a miracle when we open our hearts more fully to everything and everyone around us.
And to you, I send this universal currency — today and always!
HI Megan Joyful angel,
I love how you say “love is a universal currency” so readily available and so easy to give.
As for star signs….they are indeed a spectrum…i dont think they can be very accurate. But, as Suzen mentions and i have also read, getting your chart done can make it pretty accurate. Irrespective, Love Love And love will save us!!
Love to you too always!
Hi Zeenat. Interesting article. As a very scientifically oriented person I put no stock in astrology. It doesn’t matter to me whether other people do or not. To each his own, but I think you miss out on opportunities when you do so. As you so clearly point out you are limiting yourself. I love so many people who believe totally differently than I do and as far as I’m concerned that’s what makes people interesting. Thanks.
Hi Stephen,
You said it…Believing in different things is what makes each of us unique!!! And whatever we all believe in..as long is love is at the top of that list..all is well right 🙂 Thanks for your lovely comment .
Dear Zeen,
I have just one word to describe your article and ie “SUPERB”. I wonder how you write so beautifully and how do you get so much time to think of all these facts. Great going buddy!!
Darling Remya,
You make me blush 😉
Dont give so many compliments…I just love to read nad write, so i guess its passion that comes out in the writings as well. But i am still so ameteur, still have a long way to go to get to my goal.
So nice to see your lovely comment here today. Thanks 🙂
Hi Zeenat .. I’ll have to come back! I agree the newspaper predictions are just a nonsense .. the trouble is a lot of people take them as ‘read’ – it’s frightening how much people believe without any understanding at all. Birth charts – I’m sure offer guidance .. and somehow I believe there has to be more out there .. what I have no idea.
It is a great blog post – really informative, especially with the icing on the cake from your readers and their experiences ..
Great – thanks -Hilary Melton-Butcher
