A Transformative Birthday ~ On Being True to Myself

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

An honest confession: Last year at this time, I was NOT living by the light inside. I was not being true to myself. I was in immense pain physically and emotionally. There was so much that was not going right in my life, that I had just gone on living on autopilot. I realized all this when I saw my birthday pictures the next day i.e. on the 30th of September 2014. I was shocked to see myself. I couldn’t recognize myself with all those layers. I felt like crap literally! I cried for a few nights and prayed and prayed for guidance. I needed to feel like myself again. I craved to FEEL alive again. I was helping all these people heal through counseling and healing work, while I wasn’t feeling very good myself. It didn’t feel right. On my Birthday, I Choose to Unleash and Embrace my inner child

On my Birthday, I Choose to Unleash and Embrace my inner child“It’s never too late to have a happy childhood” ~ Z

As I enter a new year of my life, I choose to celebrate (Its my Birthday.YAY!).

I choose also to shed the 33 from the 37 and embrace the 4 year old IN me. Yippeee….

You see, very very early on in life I had no choice but to grow up. Literally no choice then. The circumstances needed that from me and I did the best I could being an adult in a child’s body. Hence, my childhood never came. The realization of that lost childhood came very late in my life..but it came.

Today though, I have another choice. I have the choice to embrace my inner child in me and LIVE in Magic. And that is exactly what I have been and will keep doing. My happy choice you see 🙂 Continue reading “On my Birthday, I Choose to Unleash and Embrace my inner child”

A Birthday FULL of Gratitude

gratitude makes way for happiness. A Birthday full of gratitude.“Gratitude gladdens the heart. It is not sentimental, nor jealous, nor judgmental. As gratitude grows, it gives rise to joy. We experience the courage to rejoice in our own good fortune and in the good fortune of  others. Joy is natural to an open heart. In it, we are not afraid of pleasure. We do not mistakenly believe it is disloyal to the suffering of the world to honor the happiness we have been given. Like gratitude, joy gladdens the heart. We can be joyful for people we love, for moments of goodness, for sunlight and trees and for the breath within our breast. And as our joy grows, we finally discover a happiness without cause. Like an innocent child who does not have to do anything to be happy, we can rejoice in life itself, in being alive.”

Excerpt from A Meditation on Gratitude and Joy from The Art of Forgiveness, Loving kindness and Peace by Jack Kornfield~

As I celebrate my birthday today, I am immediately overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude to The Almighty. Over the last year there have been many major changes that have happened in my life. Some good, some not so good. But, they have brought me to a place where I yearn for simplicity. I have always been a simplistic soul in the making…I just didnt know how awesome it would feel when I actually simplified EVERYTHING!
