Healing HUGS Experiment~RAOKA~

“Be a love pharmacist:  dispense hugs like medicine – they are!” ~Terri Guillemets
Ok, I’ll just come out and say it- Hugs have healing effects!

Dont believe me?? Just watch an injured child’s tears dry up in the warmth of a mother’s embrace. And watch an old man barely clinging to life suddenly light up with renewed strength and a will to live when his estranged son walks into the room and embraces him.

Hugs Heal BIG time! They bring in warmth right from the heart which works like the pumping veins in the heart itself. They pump your whole being with love and instant contentment.

Still dont believe me….hmmm…why not experiment? I know my  Raoka Hugs experiment last month(october) was a super success.

The HUGS Experiment:

Here is what I did: I hugged! Thats all…yes, that was my experiment- to hug a lot.

On a normal day we can be so caught up with everything else, that we can forget to hug. We forget to show our appreciation to the ones closest to us. So I decided I would add at-least 50 hugs to my day. Considering I am a frequent hugger{or so I think 🙂 } that didn’t seem like a big number to me.

It started with my little girl. I usually hug her all day, believe me given a chance I would never let her out of my arms, but we have to let them grow, let them fly…So I consciously started hugging her every chance I got. Be it for doing a chore well done, for saying a nursery rhyme well, for putting her toys away, basically for every little good deed she did, I hugged her. Even when she was upset when her teacher told her to put her head down(her first class punishment for being very chattery 😦 )..I gave her a hug and told her to be a good girl the next time so that her teacher won’t punish her.
The Result: She became a hugger too! Yes, her teacher says “she loves to hug  everyone. Even me!”  And if that wasn’t enough, she now hugs her friends when they are upset to make them feel better. Even her little mickey mouse soft toy 🙂 If you ask her why she hugged the said friend or toy she will say , “they got a boo boo. Huggy makes it all better.”

I also tried the hug a lot experiment with friends and acquaintances. Whenever I felt like someone needed consoling there I was sitting beside them giving them a hug. Whenever there was someone feeling happy and celebrating, there I was giving my hugs. Sometimes when I’m at a loss for words, either cause of the situation or for whatever reason, I hug.
The Result: Not only did they feel better instantly, but so did I. I felt like a catalyst of Healing Love. To see another person smile cause of something you did is great, but its even greater when you do something so small(a hug) and see such massive happiness flowing.

Hugs might not make your fever go away, but they will surely make you feel better to eat, smile and recuperate faster. A hug is like a thousand “I love yous” or a thousand “I’m here for yous”.

So what are you waiting for?

Be the Catalyst for Healing Love- Be a Hugger!

You can’t give a hug without getting a hug.

There is no downside to it. The hugger and the huggee both feel great. The bestest part…..its FREE FREE FREE!

While its difficult for all of us to be there for each other physically at all times, make sure to give a virtual cosmic hug to your friend or loved one via email, text, twitter or facebook. Your amazing hugging intention is enough to make the warmth flow till the other end.

Lets all heal the world with loving hugs 🙂

What a fun way to heal the world!

  1. Zeenat, darling, I am sick – and after reading this, I may just have to call my husband to come home and give me a few more hugs. { } ! I love love love hugs, I have since I was very little and in Iranian culture, affection is overflowing so it took some adjustment when I moved to US but it seems that in certain communities, like the tango and the yoga and even our blogging community, hugging is common so I fit right in. It is a sweet post you have here. I really could feel your affection – Here’s to hugging you and squeezing you tight one day in PERSON!

    1. Oh farnoosh,
I hope you get better soon and in the meanwhile are smothered with lots and lots of hugs from your hubby dearest 🙂
I remember when i lived in Iran, I often thought of the language and the way they greeted each other to be amazingly sweet.
Here’s one Huge hug for you..so you feel all better.
      Much Love~

      1. You lived in Iran at some point? I had no idea! What a small world! We were always in Tehran. I miss those days sometimes but it is so long ago and so vastly different from anything I have been living the last 20 years that sometimes I think it just never happened, you know? Love and hugs back to you dear Zeenat, I am fully recovered :)!

        1. Yes, i lived in iran for a year in 1999. Technically that was 11yrs ago too.wow! I was doing my islamic studies in qum. It is a small world for sure. Hugs~

  2. Hi Zeenat!

YAY!!! Hugs! I LOVE hugs and in fact, you are so right, they are contagious. The more I allow myself to experience hugs from others, or give hugs to others, the more I want to do it and the better and better it feels!

I love your experiment and yes, how simple, hugs are free and they feel so good!!!!!

And you know what, I am not into anything dealing with pharmacists, but being a hug pharmacist? How can I refuse! Love it 🙂

    1. HI Evita,
I cant stand the sight of a pharmacy too…hence hugs fill my own personal loving healing pharmacy anyday 😉
Lets both be hugs pharmacists…woohoo! We would be rich rich rich…hug rich 🙂
Thank you for your awesome comment here 🙂
      Lots of love,
      Z~

  3. Hi Zeenat,

Very nice! Hugs have a huge affect on humans. It is a very nice way to express our love and our humanity through hugs. We should all experiment and give hugs more often. Thanks for sharing

  4. Hi Zeenat, This is such a warm and loving post…I also love hugs. Did you notice, when each of the Chilean miners was brought to the surface, the unbelievable hugs they gave to, and received from their loved ones. That was so touching and magical to watch. Later that evening I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that the only thing I miss by not being in a relationship for the last two years is those huge warm ‘man’ hugs. Strangely enough, as though I had somehow managed to wave a magic wand, that evening I exhanged the warmest and cuddliest hug I’ve ever had with a man…he was 17 years old, 6″2″, blond and heart-breakingly handsome (Im allowed to gush…)…my son! He came home and said “Hey Mum…you look like you could do with a big hug!” Psychic or what…!

    1. Oh rosemary, What a darling Son you have….who just knows when mommy needs a hug. Kids whatever their age are supposed to be hugfull and awesome na. I tell you we are lucky lucky mums. I wish all kids were as psychic as your son 🙂
A big hug to you with lots of love too ~

  5. Zeenat,
    Mmmm….big, loving hugs to YOU!!

This was just so uplifting to read…and in your words…I very much felt the warm embrace of you…hugging me. (I just stopped for a few moments to let that feeling fully be with me….so, so wonderful)

And as I finish here…I feel that healing gift from you…

Big hugs to you, sweet friend…

  6. Zeenat,
Here is a joy filled for you!!!
I am sure your daughter loves your hugs..and you get lots of love back..that’s the best part of hugs–they are cyclical..
    And lots of fun!
*And* Hershey’s candy has a chocolate candy named hugs..oh yea–chocolate mixed with love…

  7. Hi Zeenat:

I love hugs! You’re right, there’s something healing about a hug. I don’t know if there’s any scientific proof to it, but I believe it. There’s nothing like a hug at a time of great pain or despair. My mother was in the hospital recently and had a bad day. It turns out her nurse was having a bad day too. My mother said that they gave each other a hug. I thought this was great because I know hugging a patient isn’t in a nurse’s job description – but it gave me a great feeling to learn about this. Great topic this month!

    1. Hi Tim,
That was one intuitive nurse 🙂 I hope your mum is feeling better Tim. Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts here.
      Much love~

  9. Megan "JoyGirl!" Bord

Beautiful Zeenat! I love this experiment, and the idea of giving/getting hugs. I have a few friends who, when they hug, you feel it in every ounce of your being. They exude love with each embrace, and are fully attentive and mindful during hugs. That has made all the difference to me in wanting to give/get hugs. In the past, I’d hug from my shoulders & arms, only. Now, I put my whole body into it and really sink into the feeling of love that comes with giving/getting hugs.

I love the way you described hugs as medicine — for me, that’s certainly been the case.

Thank you for sharing this and spreading more hugs throughout the world. An energetic hug is being sent your way now!

    1. Hi My Joyful Angel,
Ahh i await to receive your hug one day…but for now the virtual hug will do 🙂 You go spread your beautiful energy…the world needs you.
      So much love~

    1. HI Sandra,
If you got a real one you would never let go 😉 And I promise fragrance free….
A big big hugs for you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts here.
