Positive Reflections on the Year gone by 2024(+Free Printable)

We do not learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience.” ~ John Dewey

This is the last month of the year 2024, and for many, it can feel like a dark and quiet time. End of the year energy is usually very deep and that is understandable as we are all in this reflective space.

And that is why it becomes the perfect time for deep healing reflection.

I usually use this month to go deep into a reflective state, almost like a year end ritual that nurtures my heart and soul positively.

Rather than be in a state of angst and panic for the year ending, and the inner critic screaming of all the things I could not accomplish this year, I prefer this calmer way. That’s why I call it a positive reflection on the year gone by. Because honestly, by default we go into a negative state…which ultimately is not healing or productive.

The energy of the year ending has brought with it a sense of sacredness and depth to each moment that I often don’t notice, because I’m always so focused on getting stuff done or getting distracted(I blame peri-menopausal brain for that 😉 ). When I slow down into stillness, that depth and sacredness becomes more apparent and more accessible to me.

And, because I really want to tap into that stillness, what better way to do it than to journal about it? I ask myself just the right questions to go deep and emerge with knowledge about myself that was either hidden beneath past scars or just brushed under the rug.

In this positive reflections ritual, I usually:

  • Reflect on what I accomplished, went through, and learned in this past year
  • Clarify what goals and projects I could not complete, and what I can learn from that
  • Visualize my coming year, with healing goals and positive intentions
  • Make a doable plan to make those goals and intentions a reality in the new year

Deeper thoughts I reflect on to journal, which you can use too:

  • Beautiful things or experiences that you have seen this past year
  • A mindful moment you can remember that helped you re-center
  • A kindness that you showed to someone this year
  • Something hard that you did or maybe there were lots of hard things, write them down without missing on even the smallest ones.
  • A time that you showed yourself compassion or kindness
  • A time when you felt physically powerful and strong
  • Something new that you learned this year, list even the smallest thing
  • A way that you stretched yourself or took a risk – to try something new, to learn something or engage in something or with someone
  • A time you were able to recognize your emotion and give it space and sit with it a bit more than before without being reactive or shutting it down

I invite you to be part of this reflective ritual with me.

I have attached a worksheet with prompts that will take you into that healing reflective space. So that you too can look at your year with the light that you truly deserve. Find a quiet spot where you feel calm, light a candle, breathe and start reflecting on your year with these worksheets. You can print them out or use them on your tablets/phones.

Its free, so please download it, use it, and share it with whoever you hold dear.

This is an ongoing journey of growth for us, and it’s immensely important that we take time to reflect on it regularly.

I hope you enjoy this healing gift from my heart to yours ❤
Stay tuned for another BIG PLANNER for 2025, that drops in the next couple of days 🙂
I really want your end of the year and new year to be a special time for you. Its a beautiful energy to tune into and I hope these little gifts help you to tune into just that.

  2. What a wonderful positive way to end the year dear Zeenat, and I agree, Journaling our inner thoughts often reveal much especially when we read them back at a later date..
And what a generous Gift you have given your readers in the down load of those worksheets…
Wishing you dear Zeenat… a wonderful End of Year Seasonal Celebration, as I wish Love and Peace to surround you throughout 2025 and beyond…
