You Are Not Broken: Healing Anxiety from the Inside Out

“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” — Kahlil Gibran

Anxiety is not a life sentence. It is not a sign that you are broken or that your spirit is lost in chaos. Anxiety often feels like something invading you, like an unseen force gripping your body and clouding your mind, but I want you to know: you are not powerless. Healing is possible. Profound healing.

And it begins when you reclaim your agency and release the identity of being the victim. Healing doesn’t arise from fear. It arises from presence, self-compassion, and truth.

Let me share with you three soul-deep understandings that transformed my own journey through anxiety—and that have guided many others home to peace.

Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure everything out all at once. Breathe. You’re strong. You got this:

1. Your thoughts are not your enemy, but they must be seen clearly.

“Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be its master and not its slave.” ~ Remez Sasson

Anxiety feeds on fear-based thinking—those thoughts that loop and spiral, whispering stories of danger and doubt. Fear births more fear. But once I became conscious of this cycle, I realized I had a choice: I could stop feeding the flame. When I learned to witness those thoughts without attaching to them, the fire began to fade. The mind can be a sacred servant or a relentless tyrant. We get to choose who it becomes.

2. Anxiety is the body’s cry for regulation—not a spiritual flaw.

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”~ Thich Nhat Hanh

At its root, anxiety is a dysregulated nervous system. It is the body stuck in a posture of defense—breath shallow, heart racing, muscles tight. This is not your fault. It is not a moral failure. It is simply your body trying to protect you, long after the danger has passed. When I saw this, the fear softened. I could meet my body with tenderness instead of resistance. I could begin to soothe the physiology of fear, one breath at a time.

3. The body leads, and the mind follows.

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”~ Martin Luther King Jr.

We often believe the mind controls everything—but in truth, most of the communication flows from the body to the brain. When the body is stuck in survival, the mind stays locked in fearful stories. But when I learned to regulate my body—to ground, to breathe, to move with intention—my mind began to settle. I could see clearly. I stopped believing the fearful narratives. And everything began to shift.

Closing Reflection

When I stopped resisting the anxiety… when I stopped fueling it with fear and instead met it with love and curiosity… it gradually released its grip. It became part of my past—not my identity.

And now, I’ve had the honor of guiding hundreds through their own healing. If this resonates with your spirit, know this: you are not alone. Healing is not only possible—it is your birthright.
