12 Positively Amazing ways to Be Young Forever

“When a heart Loves, it stays Young forever.” ~Z~

The fountain of youth, the magic potions that will keep you young forever and ever….

I grew up with fairy tales and believed in the fountain of youth and magic potions. I still do. More so now, than ever before. WHY?

Hey, I am in my 34th year on this beautiful planet and my physical body is showing the signs of growing wisdom(my positive way of saying ageing 😉 ).

All the physical ageing signs are there. And all the physical solutions like plastic surgery, hair dye, botox, and special creams are advertised everywhere online and offline to rejuvenate you, take years off your face, neck, hands,  you name it…and don’t get me started on “prevention techniques”. Not that I’d ever do anything unnatural to actually hide these beautiful signs of growing wisdom….I wear them well and with immense honor, cause they tell me where I have bravely come from and what I am Beautifully BECOMING mind, heart, body and soul in this lifetime.

But these physical signs aren’t the ones I’m worried about. I think of this body much like a well designed car, which is helping me to get from point A to point B. Point A being birth and Point B being death. I know I need to take care of this body more now, so that it can sustain me happily till I reach point B. That in no way means injecting it with foreign bodies…it means a healthy diet and exercise.

The magical fountain of youth does exist!

I still believe in the fountain of youth. I know it exists. I see it and feel it everyday.

The magical fountain of youth is a Loving heart. Natural Divine magic isnt it!  Just simple and all powerful love. A heart that knows to love stays young forever and lives forever. HOW?

When you love with all your heart, you not only make all around you happy, but you make yourself happy too. A happy heart is a healthy heart. A healthy heart makes for longer youthful experiences. Experiences that open your mind and positively provoke you to live a better life.

The truth is that as our bodies inevitably, beautifully & gracefully age, our minds can get “younger” if we Love fully and deeply.

Below are 10 positively amazing ways to do just that…make your mind ‘younger’ by loving deeply and fully, thereby ensuring you stay Young Forever.

12 Positively Amazing ways to Be Young Forever

  1. Forget about numbers: I have said this before and I will say it again, I am 4 forever and refuse to get too caught up in the number game. Be it age, height or weight….I refuse to think about them or let them get me down. I live my life to the fullest with lots of love. The only denomination that matters to me is the amount of love I have spread in a day. No other number has the power to last forever and ever….only LOVE.
  2. Be yourself: If you look around, you might see many younger people trying to be older and many older people trying to be younger. In most of these cases, it never works. It ends up looking like they are all trying too hard to be something they are not. Here’s a solution: Be yourself. Accept yourself as you are. Be all that you can be, reach for your potential, but don’t try to be anything you are not.
  3. Hold on to cheerful friends: Cheerful happy friends are like instant pick me ups. When I find such friends who laugh more than they complain…I hold on to them like my life depends on it…cause my Youthful heart does. Just think of the last time you sat with friends or had a chat with one such cheery friend…were any of the “forget about numbers” ever part of the conversation? I am sure it was only laughter and fun and sharing.
  4. Keep stimulating your mind: Learn more about the computer , crafts, gardening, whatever. Take up a hobby. Never let the brain get idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’ And the devil’s name could be Alzheimer’s! A stimulated mind is never bored and always full of happy ideas to make life full of vigor. I take up a new hobby every month, and then abandon them by the starting of the new month 😉 Some that nourish me stay on for a long long time. To date I have tried glass painting, embroidery, knitting, flower making, candle making, soft toy making, Css(a computer design code), pc gaming, table tennis, walking, painting, sketching, cooking, blogging…I think I will be blogging about more of my new hobbies till I reach the wise age of 100, with my grandkids calling me their fun-loving, hip, super blogging grandma 😉
  5. Enjoy the simple things: Life is short and its upto us to make it sweet too! Each day presents us with amazing opportunities to enjoy life and feel young at heart. slow down. Life has a lot of simple things you can enjoy. But if you move too fast you will overlook most of them. So don’t be in a hurry. Don’t move too quick. Slow down and pay attention to the world around you. be grateful. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is. No matter how many pleasant things you do, if you don’t learn to be grateful you will always see things negatively.
  6. Laugh loud and often: Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her! Laughing makes you feel awesome and alive. It makes your heart physically work better thereby allowing you to enjoy the fruits of  a long and loving life. Laugh with your heart, with your mind and with your soul. Let every cell in your system burst with laughter everyday.
  7. Embrace the tears and move on: The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself. LIVE while you are alive. Tears and pain are alive only till you give them fuel with your emotion. Ups and downs in life are inevitable, but the way we react to these ups and downs are in our control. Moving on is far simpler than we would like to accept. When you decide to move on you make way for happiness and a life that is full of amazing grace and wisdom. You live and learn and still remain completely alive!
  8. Be surrounded with all you love: Whether it’s family, friends, pets, keepsakes, gifts, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge. When there is love all around you and in you, how then can you not have a life full of vitality and love? What you love gives you the freedom to Be You forever…no matter how long you live.
  9. Cherish good health: Health is wealth! When I crossed the 30 mark, some aches and pains had cropped up. I knew then that I had been taking undue advantage of my good health. I decided to make a few positive changes to my lifestyle and believe me, I feel super now. I intend on keeping it that way. There will be new aches and pains that will creep up as you age…the best thing to do at a time like this is make subtle changes to your lifestyle that best suits your body. This care in-turn helps you to feel more in control and Live more fully.
  10. Bid farewell to guilt trips: Dont we all automatically guilt ourselves into sadness? I think its more part of our mental conditioning as we grew up…to feel guilty for every little thing. I remember- If you eat ice cream your teeth will fall off, If you drink tea you will get patchy skin, if you talk like this noone will be your friend..etc. What if we lived life not worrying about the ‘if” and just lived? We are human and are bound to make mistakes. Thats fine. But guilting our-self curtails our mind and heart to move forward happily. Decide today to Not feel guilty for things you love to do and watch how amazing life becomes! Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
  11. Say “I love you” all the time: This is my all time favorite! Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. My little daughter who is now 5 years, says I love you so many times its literally countless. I have taught her to say “I love you” as soon as she feels it. The best part is when she spends time with her friends…when she feels especially happy with them she says ‘I love you’ with a big hug. I am the same too! I do show my love in many ways to all those who I know. Be it by saying thank you or by cooking a special dish for a friend or a meal for the family or by reaching to someones rescue in the middle of the night….all these acts come from love and so they ooze with love. When there is so much love to give…where is the time to feel old?? I only feel all warm and fuzzy 🙂
  12. Live for something greater than yourself: Select an ideal, purpose, or mission greater than yourself to live for. Set your sights high. Dream the so-called “impossible” dream. Challenge yourself, but know that it’s okay if you never get there because no one is keeping score. Remember? The only thing you are truly seeking on your path is joy. As Abraham-Hicks concludes, “Everything exists for joy. There is not one other reason for life than joy. We’ve got nothing to prove to anyone, because nobody other than All-That-Is is watching. We’re not trying to get someplace else; we’re not trying to get it done, because there is no ending–we cannot get it done. Everything exists for the purpose of joy in the moment.”

When your heart and mind stay young, your body automatically succombs to staying young forever. The magic potion or the fountain of youth has been within our hearts the whole time.~Z~

When I use the term “Young Forever,” I define it as remaining young at heart, embodying those feelings of joy and freedom most of us had as children, but for some reasons (e.g., social conditioning), lost or outgrew. For me, it is also the belief that anything is possible at any time. The good news is this way of looking at the world is not dependent on your chronological age. It is available to you right now, regardless of your age.

My Forever Wish For You:

May god bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every run

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift

May your heart always be joyful
May you stay, forever young

(Writers of the above verses are BEAUVOIR, JEAN / FAHRENKROG-PETERSON, JOERN / MARTINELLI, BETTINA who originally wrote these words for Bob Dylan)

  1. Thanks Zeenat,

Another great post. I particularly liked the tips about setting a dream big enough to inspire & being wise/ loving enough to celebrate self, life & love regardless of where we are, because the real purpose is to spread love & joy.

OK, I paraphrased you & Abraham, but that’s what I’ll take away from this post.

    Blessings, Brad

    1. Dear Brad,
You do paraphrase pretty well 😉
But its so true…when all we seek is joy, it doesnt matter what age we are to enjoy life. Everything then becomes joy 🙂
I’m glad you liked this post and that you are taking away something positive from it.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your wonderful thoughts here.
      Much Love~

    1. Dearest Sandra,
I live to invigorate you my dear 🙂 By the way you are the youngest person at heart I know!!
I am glad you are one of my dearest positive friends too!
      Sending you lots of love~

Ahhh…my lovely little *Soul Sister* I do love the synchronicity of your *34* years of age and my *34* years of age!

I am thankful how time has gracefully gone on to bring me to this time and place to read your ’12 Positively Amazing ways to Be Young Forever’. All twelve are jam packed with vitality and wisdom!

Last night I went into the archives to pull out my 1984 ‘The Complete Runner’s Day-by Day Log and Calender’ ~ by James F. Fix

I was *34* that year (do the math).

This was my workout for the week of July 17th to July 22, 1984:

Monday: Biked from Apt. to Oceanside…back to La Jolla Cove…swam 1 mile…biked back to Apt. (Swam 1 mile) (Biked 50 miles)

Tuesday: Swam 1 mile harder with Lizzy…ran 6 miles easy. (Ran 6 miles) (Swam 1 mile)

    Wednesday: Off

Thursday: Biked from Apt. to Leucadia…back down to Bay…ran 8 miles…biked to cove…swam 1/2 mile with Lizzy in ‘choppy water’…biked back to Apt. (Ran 8 miles) (Swam 1/2) (Biked 52 miles).

Friday: Biked to work…ran 9 miles with Doug. (Ran 9 miles) (Biked 40 miles)

Saturday: Ran from Mission Bay to Cove and back. (Ran 18 miles)

Sunday: Biked to Carlsbad from Apt. Met another cyclist at Del Mar went up at a 20 mph. pace the rest of the way…swam 1 mile that evening. (Biked 45 miles) (Swam 1 mile).

    ———————–

To this day Z, I maintain an exercise program of some sort throughout the week. I maintain a healthy diet (could always be better). Plus, my later in life job as an I.A.T.S.E. stagehand has given me strength and muscle that I did not have when I was in my 30’s. I actually have larger chest and back muscles now via my job. I am so fortunate that I have the means to live out your twelve both at work and away from work.

Rest is so important. I spent the whole day yesterday doing nothing much… just laying down…pulled a few weeds…hope Paige found the time to do the same (read her comment).

Here’s a poem for you and yours:

    ‘The Investment’

    Robert Frost

Over back where they speak of life as staying

(“You couldn’t call it living, for it ain’t),

There was an old , old house renewed with paint,

And in it a piano loudly playing.

Out in the plowed ground in the cold a digger,

    Among unearthed potatoes standing still

Was counting winter dinners, one a hill,

With half an ear to the piano’s vigor.

All that piano and new paint back there,

Was it some money suddenly come into?

Or some extravagance young love had been to?

Or old love on an impulse not to care—

Not to sink under being man and wife,

But get some color and music out of life?

    1. Dear Rand,
See…i tell you, you have powers to render me speechless 🙂 And I love it!
You are the epitome of health…wow! I have got to learn from you….If I can get even half as active as you I’d probably last forever 😉
Thank you for sharing your amazing wisdom here.I appreciate your input here so much.
Much Love to your ageless soul ~

  3. Whether it’s to stay young or just be happy, these are some wonderful ideas!

I remember turning 30 and realizing that I was finally feeling the first little signs of aging. Now, ten years later they’re a part of life but all things that I take in stride. I’m proud of my age and all that I’ve learned in my years. I look at other women who are older and wiser than I and realize things will continue to get better as I get older.

I certainly don’t feel as old as I am but I don’t think I ever will. I’m enjoying the process and playing with it with curiosity and fun.

Zeenat, you’re awesome at making everything feel loving and fun and you’ve done it again. Thank you!!

    1. Darling Paige,
Oh it does definitely get better 🙂 You and me and many many other people out there are proof to that. I too dont feel old and I dont think i ever will…I do love the perks of growing wiser though 😉
Thank you for your beautifully loving comment here. I love your energy!
      So Much Love to you~

  4. Loved the post – and love the video of Billy Joel’s Piano Man (Thank you Rand!) it is one of my favorite songs! Yes, Zeenat, I see you as a hip super-blogging grandma! 😀 Happiness, love and a kindness are the secrets to staying young forever! Take it from me 😀 I have a cool fourteen-year lead on you! Age is a number. Attitude is forever! And I am loving yours!

The verse “My forever wish for you” is beautiful!

    1. Vidya dearest,
Oh age is but a number I care not ever to think about cause hey I am 4 forever and ever and ever 😉
We will both be super hip grandmas..what say..?? 🙂
May our ageless attitudes last many lifetimes… only to expand in love.
So glad you liked this post.
Thank you for your amazing comment here.
      So Much Love~

  5. Priyanka

Hey Zeenat, what an ameliorating post…… simply enjoyed reading it! your 10 points are definitely gonna help a lot of readers………….. Growing old is just the addition of nos. to your life and you need to be real happy for all the years you’ve lived. I loved the point about the stimulation of mind…..an idle mind is indeed a devil’s workshop(ask me… I am quite experienced in this regard) but that it could be Alzheimer was no way known to me (thanks to you). Even I try being creative and learning as many things as possible….hold on to some and leave some but at the end of the day feel good just to think of the fact that at least I tried what I wanted. Life is beautiful and we should be thankful enough to have been blessed with it and yes grief sorrow and tears are part of it and as life moves on, so should we.

    Immense love to you!!!

    1. Dearest Priyanka,
So happy you are a busy busy mind like me 🙂 DO share what hobbies etc have you tired recently? Have any stuck with you?
You are wise beyond your years Priyanka…life goes on and we can choose everyday to make it a happy full of love life.
Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts here. I love your way with words 🙂
      Much Love~

      1. Priyanka

Oh Zeenat, thank you very very much and I am so happy to know that you are keen in knowing what hobbies have I myself tried. My list is definitely not as big as yours but still I think I can suggest you some, you know, you can go for sand painting, photo frame making, pot painting (with fevicryl clay……it looks wonderful,I tell you), fevicryl tutorials are great since they offer ample ideas. I have also tried many computer programmings like you Zeenat (my only problem is I get bored very quickly). Oh and not to forget I love reading books (be it of any kind) and recently I have tried my hands at poem writing (its just a single one I have written and both my siblings loved it, I am happy since they are my biggest critics as well), and I think I am gonna stick to this one at least…….he he!!

        hugs and more hugs!

        1. Darling when you find something you love and it makes you forget about eating…know its for the long haul 🙂 may you stay creatively young forever . Hugs!

  6. Dear Zee,
I loved, loved this post! Chock full of sage advice. Age is just a number – the older I get the more I realize I feel the same inside as I did 20 years ago. One advantage age has is wisdom though. I truly feel that we are the sum of our experiences which only adds to our depth and character.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful shining heart with us in each and every post.
And, thank you for linking to me as well.
    xoxo,
    Angela

    1. Darling Angela,
I too dont feel old..and doubt I ever will 🙂 No numbers can bring me down 😉
Our experiences are what make us…and the more we have the better we get at living. What fun we are finally gonna be considered experts at life!
Thank you for always being here and supporting me. I love you for that among countless other things 🙂
      Much Love~

  7. These are all great, terrific, useful and easy. Here’s my addition:

Take responsibility for raising something or someone younger than you. Whether it’s gardening, helping with children or teenagers, or (in my case) training a puppy to become a service dog, mentoring the young reawakens and reinforces your own vitality.

(Sorry I haven’t taken time for commenting much lately, Sister Z, but I’m still reading!)

    1. My dear Mikey,
I know you are there…no matter if I see your comment or not. I know life and time have a great effect on the comments we leave online..so I understand. I havent been miss commentor of the year either 😦 But its ok….whats important is we know we are in each others hearts..and isnt all that matters…
As for your puppy…oh isnt he a lucky little pup to have you as his trainer!!
      May you be constantly invigorated.
Thank you for being here and sharing your thoughts. You know how much I love them.
      Much Love~

    1. Dearest Arvind,
You and me both will be blogging sensations way past our 100s eh 😉
May we get the chance to play together real soon.let me know when you are planning your next visit to mumbai.
      Much love~

  8. Zeenat,
I don’t like aging. Never have. Never will. It’s loss after loss. I think your steps are wonderful and can say I incorporate everyone of them. I still hate aging. Just keepin it real…I have 24 years on you. Oh I forgot and mentioned a number. LOL

    1. Darling Tess,
Shucks me too on all counts!! 🙂
Heheh no numbers can bring us down girl!
I’m so happy you liked my points here.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your ageless wisdom here.
      Much love~

  9. How beautifully inspiring of you, Zeenat. #4 really resonated with me. Lately, I’ve been getting out and experimenting with new things. I’m learning about different cultures, dance styles alternative foods and healing practices. I’m having so much fun with it. Youth is about living… and I really feel like I’m living more now than I ever have.

    1. Dear Nea,
Experimenting is keeping your heart and brain superbly alive and I can see the effects in you amazing posts! What fun you’re exploring healing..kind of my thing 😉 need any help..just let me know. Too many resources to share.
Live love and learn my dear. No better to be forever young.
      Much love~

  10. I love your “4 forever”. How clever! I remember dancing to the song “Forever Young” when I was in my early 20s. It has a very catchy beat and it certainly made me feel young at heart.

We seem to have in common the desire to learn new things and take up classes. I have done graphic design, pottery, costume jewelry design, folk art painting and lately, scrapbooking. These are in-between the sporting activities that I have taken up: water-skiing, wakeboarding, snow-skiing, diving and so on. I enjoy having new experiences and the thought of challenging myself.

Here’s to everlasting youth, beauty and wisdom!

    1. Dearest Evelyn,
Wow wow and wow again! Now those are some sporting activities I must take up. My all time favorite sport to play was always badminton and table tennis..I’m planning to take it up again soon 🙂
I love the creative stuff..it really helps to get the juices flowing to youthful living.
Thanks a ton for sharing yourself here.
      Much love~

  11. I love this Zeenat. Your beautiful energy is oozing out through the words and am sure everyone can resonate with it. It’s very true we should live for something greater than ourselves. Much joy exists when we push ourselves beyond limits we didn’t think we could actually reach. To add to this, I feel we should believe in something higher than ourselves…it’s humbling. And it is also comforting to know that something out there watches over us. This gives us faith and we know even when we fall, somewhere…somehow there is a loving being which will never desert us…that is with us every step of the way.

    Veeh

    1. Hi Veehcirra,
I’m so with you! Its truly humbling and uplifting to know that the Divine Hand is somehow working to make things just as they are supposed to be. A feeling of safety comes through when we can have complete faith in a higher power.
I’m happy to know you are in that amazing place where faith is your anchor.
May you live a long, prosperous and youthful life forever 🙂
      Much Love~

  12. Zeenat…..An invigorating post!

I am reading 2 books ‘Think Smart: A Neuroscientist’s Prescription for Improving Your Brain’s Performance and Use Your Brain To Change Your Age…secrets to look, feel, and think younger every day. It’s incredible to see how the field of neurobiology is making such quick advances….
So much to learn. And as we grow older (as Tess and I know), there is less time for learning and being. I cherish life more than I ever had.:). Fran

    1. Darling Fran,
We are all loving our life more and more everyday. How amazing is it…that when we keep our hearts and minds open we can feel and be younger than we ever were before this very moment…
Thank you for sharing your reading here fran. I have got to get my hands on those soon 🙂
      Much Love to you~

  13. Hi Zeenat,

Inspiring post! You make some great points about taking care of yourself and being yourself, not trying to be older or younger than you are. This sentence jumped out at me – And the devil’s name could be Alzheimer’s! – because my mom suffers from that disease. You are right to keep your brain stimulated and that’s another benefit of the writing that you and I are doing. But I do have to add, it was fun being 34. I’m older now, but feel great and loving my life!

    1. Dear Cathy,
Its fun being any age when we have the right positive attitude to go along with it na …like you do!
I’ll be sending your mum and you some healing positive vibes.
May we meet someday soon and have a few happy dance parties to commemorate our youth 🙂
Thank you for your lovely comment here.
      Much Love~

  14. Dear Zeenat,
You’re post is great! I’ve come to expect nothing less from you. This sparticulalry resonates: “Be yourself: If you look around, you might see many younger people trying to be older and many older people trying to be younger. In most of these cases, it never works. It ends up looking like they are all trying too hard to be something they are not. Here’s a solution: Be yourself. Accept yourself as you are. Be all that you can be, reach for your potential, but don’t try to be anything you are not.”

What keeps me young is connecting with my inner child through art, acting, music and my three little dogs. I agree with Mikey’s suggestion above and also with Evelyn’s suggestion re: becoming a lifelong learner. I’m currently helping friends with a kids art group and I’m also taking a very interesting course I may choose to share about in my blog.

P.S. I’m having fun reading responses from people who are younger than I am. 😀

    1. My dearest TiTi,
How lovely to see you here! And dont make me blush with your high expectation of me….you never know when I might just not live upto it 😉
Connecting to our inner child is a gorgeous way to stay young forever! I do that by playing with my little one and getting my hands dirty with new fun activities to do with my girl. Children are amazing zen masters. I’m so sure you will have a great time with the kids art group. Their ‘wows’ when they see something is just divine 🙂
I think you are the youngest gal here 😉
      Loving your comment here.
      Much Love always ~

    Dear Zeenat,
