The 3 P’s of Happiness and Success

The 3 P’s of Happiness and SuccessOften our lives get entwined in the mundane. We live each day- work, eat, sleep without giving a single thought to our core happiness. That happiness that comes from completely and totally knowing yourself. Knowing what you are, what you need, what makes you tick, what makes you thrive. But we live.

Is this the way to live? Are you truly ALIVE?

Hence, when I started writing this article, I had the many people in mind who still are looking for the meaning. Looking for the answer to the age old question of “why am I here?”. This has helped me look at some aspects of my life too. Where I need to infuse more passion and where I need to dream and BE more. What I have noticed is that whatever you do, whatever your goals, your desires…there are only 3 P’s we all require to reach them, to be completely Happy & Successful.

The 3 P’s of Happiness and Success:

“Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired.” Martha Graham
If you have a passion for something but still aren’t good at it, its ok. Practice practice practice. If there is a habit you want to give up, that too requires practice, a practice to control self.
“We learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same. One becomes in some area an athlete of God.” Martha Graham

“With time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown.” Chinese Proverb
In this quick fix, fast forward world we often forget that the things that are most precious to us have come to us after a lot of time and patience. Be it having a baby, before which a mother has to carry it to term 9 months. Ask an expecting mother how long that 9 months seems to her. But she keeps her thoughts positive and dreams of how her life will be with that bundle of joy in her arms. Looking ahead, dreaming good dreams, keeping your thoughts positive all helps in developing patience.
“Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.” Hal Borland

“A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.” Elbert Hubbard
When things don’t go according to plan, according to our expectations we get upset, agitated and give up. Look around you…how many projects have you started and not finished? How many ideas have you thought of that haven’t seen the light of day? Its these ideas, these sudden bursts of thoughts that hold the key to your uniqueness, your passion…YOU! We all need to be more persistent towards our-selves, towards our ideas our thoughts. Take out 2 minutes in a  day to scan your life and yourself- Bring out all those ideas, those thoughts and let them breathe. You will Breathe such a sigh of happiness when you do. Follow through those ideas to the very end. Who knows this idea this thought is what will MAKE you..
“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” Benjamin Franklin

To me success is not the end result, its the learning journey, its the moments where I fail and pick myself up. Its the failures that teach me more about myself. Getting up after a fall and standing tall…that is true success to me. The kind of success that gives me happiness and makes me feel like a conqueror- a conqueror of my Self.~

Its my sincere hope and prayer that all that I share here on this blog helps you. If there are any topics you want me to write about do let me know.

  1. Zeenat,

Wonderful post. I try to practice your three “Ps” each day. One more “P” that I follow that helps me get closer to success is Passion. When I have passion for someone or something, then success is easier to achieve.

    1. Hi Alex,
Passion ah…now thats a big one. I personally feel that once we have these 3 P’s in order passion is automatically ignited without too much effort. I suppose they all work hand in hand 🙂
I do agree with you though…that when there is passion everything seems possible.
Thank you for your wonderful comment here.
      Much Love~

    1. HI Suzie,
So glad this post served as a positive reminder for you 🙂
I am sure youre a champ at all the the 3 P’s.
Thank you for your loving comment here.

    1. Hi cathy.
Thats what I had in mind when I began writing this…that these can help anyone. And these are so doable.
Thank you for your awesome comment here.
      Much Love~

  2. I enjoyed your write up and yes it’s true about the three P’s. Not easy to attempt. I am still cycling all three and all need discipline. Its FEAR I guess that slows us down as we are more afraid of the light rather then darkness.

    1. Hi Riszuan,
Youre absolutely right…its fear that holds us back from becoming happy and successful. But the good news is we can conquer fear.
May you be immersed in light and dispel darkness.
Thank you for your beautiful comment here.
      Much Love~

    1. Darling Sandra,
You could definitely add more to this trio…cause you’re that good 🙂 But I guess when we have these 3 covered..all else falls in place.
Thank you for your loving comment here.
      Much Love~

    1. Oh Anuradha,

  3. Zeenat – It’s by no accident that I was watching a phenomenal documentary on Rudolf Nureyev – and who else but Martha Graham was in it. The 3 Ps you’ve mentioned are excellent- sounds simple and yet a life time of work. xxoo-Fran

    1. Hi Fran,
Wow that Documentary sounds amazing…especially with such powerful personalities in it. The 3 P’s are simple…but have a certain level of magic attached to them too 🙂
Thank you for your loving comment here.
      Much Love~

    1. HI Anne,
They arent easy done altogether…but one at a time makes for a good start 🙂
May you master much more that the P’s my dear Anne.
Thank you for your awesome comment here.
      Much love~

  4. Hey, Zeenat! Your first “P”, standing for “Proactice” reminded me of Malcom’s “Outliers” book, in which he makes the case that we need at least 10,000 of practice to master something…

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Cornel,
That sounds interesting! I would say 40 to 60 times is enough to master it ..but then thats me 😉
So glad you stopped by and shared your thoughts. Thank you!
      Much Love~

I have just read the first step in your 6-step guide to Happiness, which includes this article on the 3 P’s. I am amazed that so much wisdom can come from one person. Thank you so much for your website.

    1. Dear J,
So glad you stopped by to read the blog and am happy that you have already begun your Healing Guide.
Thank you for your kind words here. I’m inspired by souls like you everyday 🙂
      Much Love~

  6. I think there are many people who really don’t understand the last one here, persistence. They don’t understand that it takes time and that expecting it to be easy just isn’t the reality of lofe.

    1. Hi Glynis,
I agree that it takes time….but I believe that it becomes easier and easier as we keep practicing too. The reality remains that the more you do something the easier you get and the faster you master it.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your insightful thoughts here.
      Much love~

  7. Patience and persistence go hand in had for me, Zeenat. Trying to be persistent when pursuing life goals or dreams but being patient at the same time in the results in my life is a challenge. Positive thoughts and knowing that good things come to those who wait is what helps me stay patient.

    1. Dear Vishnu,
Your sentiments here are beyond perfect. Loved reading your insight on the 3 P’s here. May you achieve all your goals 🙂
      Much Love~

    Hi Zeenat,

    Great posts.

I am thankful that I happened to stumble in your Positive Provocations blog site. I was looking over the net for some healing and encouraging tips on how to keep up with our timetable of life and I really enjoyed your write ups. It uplifts every inch of positivity of the reader especially when things and/or goals don’t turned out right according to plan.

Also, I often struggle with my self made destructive thoughts and emotional decisions especially in relationship that leads to frustration, but I am already practising the hang-in-there and other positive things and thoughts on how to overcome the negativity. Yes it is difficult for it takes a lot of patience—but rewarding especially if you chose to be happy. I just need to be more persistent.

    Thanks. 🙂

  9. Thank you so much Zeenat for this Great post , I really like it . I agree with all what you said especially these bottmom lines that are so motivational “To me success is not the end result, its the learning journey, its the moments where I fail and pick myself up. Its the failures that teach me more about myself. Getting up after a fall and standing tall…that is true success to me.”
