“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive.” ~ Eleanora Duse
Life is all about being alive. That’s a no brainer right??
You really don’t need to be out there to ‘find’ happiness. Being alive and aware is enough.
This feeling of being alive can strike anywhere… in the shower, driving in traffic, just about anywhere. You can’t pick a situation and expect happiness to meet you there. It comes when you least expect it.
Think about LIFE…isn’t it full of contradictions??… and I guess that’s why it’s so exciting. There are so many times when you don’t know where you’re going, but you go anyway. I think when I look outside myself, I feel most spiritual. Listening to someone else’s thoughts and ideas, sharing a meal with someone, taking a walk in the park with a friend with no agenda of one’s own… are all uplifting experiences, and deeply spiritual. Looking inward is essential to your spiritual growth, but not at the cost of abandoning or hurting those outside of you..like your family, friends, neighbors…
There is nothing better than being alive. Every battle to be alive is worth fighting for.
We can’t spend our life being only a spectator and letting things happen… and things do happen. So, rather than remaining in our misery, we need to start finding sources of life and joy.
All is Well
This feeling that all is well, just feeling good for no real reason is what I’m talking about here.
I’m personally happiest when I’ve had a good night’s sleep and have time to lie in bed and play with my little girl as soon as I awake.
For me, the belief that there is a larger, more powerful force that is at play in our lives gives me a great sense of hope and solace. I like the fact that it’s not all in my hands! I do love taking charge and shaping things but I also love being pleasantly surprised by forces outside my control.
There is a little secret I’ve discovered for myself: I cherish the moments when I’m doing something I love and I do it to the best of my ability. Like the moment I started this blog. Like the moments I spend praying and meditating. Like the moments I spend counseling. Like the moments I can just stare at one of God’s many beautiful scenic creations. Like the moment I see a flower bloom or a bird sit at my window sill and chipper. My list of being alive moments are endless. Those are my moments of being truly alive!
We don’t always have to look for Big moments to truly Be or feel Alive. The true magic of being alive comes alive in these small but precious moments, which happen to us every single day and many times a day too 🙂
“We’re so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it is all about.” Joseph Campbell

Great Post Zeenat. I totally agree with you when you say “You really don’t need to be out there to ‘find’ happiness. Being alive and aware is enough.”. Its so simple but rarely implemented.
For me being alive is when I engage with the world i.e activity, communication etc feeling relaxed and mentally calm. For me it is all about staying connected to my true self.
Thankyou for sharing and inspiring others.
Hi Neil,
I love your ways of being alive!! When we can truly ‘know’ and connect with ourselves on a deeper level, it becomes easier for us to connect with others. Our hearts and souls truly thrive with this connectedness for sure 🙂
Thank you for your lovely comment here. I’m so glad you stopped by.

Like you, I take great joy in the smallest of things in God’s creation. It truly does make one feel alive and grateful at the same time.
Thanks for the inspiration, Zeenat!

Getting intuitive information always reminds me of how alive and connected I always am. Also, as I’m writing this, I remember sitting in my car after I pulled into a parking lot because I couldn’t drive in a blinding rain and wind storm. I realized, as I turned off the engine to wait it out, how fascinating and inspirational it was to watch the power of the storm and feel the winds gently rock the car. It was simply nature doing it’s thing.
Thanks for sharing some of your personal moments,
Larry
Hi Larry,
Nature and all its elements have so much LIFE in them….how can we not be reminded to truly be alive observing them 🙂
